Berkeley Camp Echo Lake

The City of Berkeley has been operating Berkeley Echo Lake Camp since 1922. Echo Lake Camp sits atop a 7400 ft. ridge that overlooks the entire Lake Tahoe Basin. Campers sleep in rustic wooden tent cabins, and enjoy three hot meals a day in the Dining Hall. Campers can participate in swimming, hiking, archery, canoeing, sports, arts & crafts, games, campfires and other organized activities. Echo Lake, the Pacific Crest Trail, the Tahoe Rim Trail and Desolation Wilderness are all less than a half mile away from camp and it’s a 15-minute drive into South Lake Tahoe, which makes it a perfect location for a summer getaway for all ages.

Reservations are required.

Driving Directions

1.8 miles east of the Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort, look for the brown Berkeley Camp / Echo Lake sign. Turn left. Continue about 1/2 mile to Echo Lakes Road, turn left again and continue to the end of the road. If you come to a turn-around at the California Alpine Club (red building), you missed Echo Lakes Road by about 1/4 mile

This is a fantastic place!
