Davis Creek Mercantile

The Davis Creek Mercantile offers delicious deli sandwiches, big burgers from local beef and Friday night barbecues during the summer.  We have been nominated by our local Modoc County Cattlemen & Cattlewomen as the Best Beef Restaurant in California.  Praise our chef, John Gildersleeve, for helping the Mercantile reach this achievement.

The Davis Creek Mercantile has been locally owned and operated since the late 1800s.  We have several historic relics inside the store that bring back old memories of forgotten eras.

We also have gas, groceries, and a post office.  We carry permits and maps to collect obsidian.

Hi Neneekah- We met at the store several years ago when I stopped to buy some of your outstanding wild plum jam. I lived next door from 1957-1967 nad have been doing a bit of writing about those times. Do you happen to know there most recent history of the store? When I moved there in 1957 it was owned by Jack and Frances Dolan, but they sold to to Roland and Iola James a few years later. Do you have any documentation about the year that sale occurred? Thanks very much for your help, Say 'hi' to Erin for me. He was a senior in 1962 when I started high school. Best Wishes, Richard Hughes
