Glacier Point is a spectacular view point at 3,200 feet above the Yosemite Valley floor. From Glacier Point the visitor is treated to panoramic views of Yosemite, Nevada and Vernal Falls as well as the High Country and some of the Park's most famous sights such as Half Dome and El Capitan. The point is also popular at sunset and for stargazing. It can be accessed by car, bus, on foot or, in winter, by cross country skiing.
As a hike, many visitors choose to travel by the Glacier Point Tour bus to the view point and hike down to the Valley. The hike out of the Valley to Glacier Point can be very strenuous. There are several routes down, including the breathtaking Panorama Trail and the 4-Mile Trail (see trail descriptions for more details).
The Glacier Point Tour bus departs three times a day during the high season from May to November. At other times the bus may not be running or have limited service due to weather or demand (please check the website listed for more details). Buses depart from Yosemite Lodge at 8.30am, 10am and 1.30pm. The round trip tour lasts for four hours including an hour at Glacier Point.
