Hobo Campground

This campground is located along the Lower Kern River in the Sequoia National Forest. The Lower Kern River is located between Lake Isabella and Bakersfield. Popular for camping, day use and fishing.

Outfitter guide services in the area offer rafting trips on certain portions of the Lower Kern River. There are several hiking trails with great views of creeks and streams. During the spring the Lower

Kern River area has great views of wildflowers along the road and along trails in the area. Hobo Campground is located directly on the Kern River and is great for fishing. There is a small fishing trail that connects Hobo Campground with Sandy Flat Campground.

Located on the Kern River Ranger District on the Sequoia National Forest, Hobo Campground is not open in the winter most years, and please check with Lake Isabella Visitor Center.

Driving Directions

42 miles northeast of Bakersfield along State Highway 178, turn onto Borel Road and then right on the Old Kern Canyon Road. Approximately 1 hour from Bakersfield, Ca., and approximately 3 hours from Los Angeles.

Pet Friendly Notes

Pets are allowed in the Hobo Campground as long as they are on a leash and under control by the owner at all times.
