The Sierra Artists Gallery is the oldest art venue in Mariposa County. It has existed as a cooperative gallery since 1969 and is currently (2009) celebrating its fortieth anniversary. It is staffed and run by members who display and sell a variety of artworks which include paintings in watercolor, oil and acrylic; drawings which include pastels, pen and ink, and charcoal; handmade jewelry done in dichroic glass, beads and semi-precious stones; ceramics and gourds; and photography, both black and white and color. The Sierra Artists Gallery hosts two shows a year. One is the popular miniature show in the spring, showcasing artwork of various types done in very small, sometimes less than 2" by 2"! The other show, usually in the fall, is the Gold Rush Art Show which features local artists who compete for cash prizes and ribbons.

The gallery is always striving to keep on the green side by recycling and reusing old papers and by keeping power usage to a minimum. Where they can, they are using CFL lighting, and keeping lights turned off when not in use.
