Smokey the Bear Sign | US Hwy. 395 Mammoth Lakes, CA

This new 12 foot high Smokey the Bear sign was replaced by the Inyo National Forest. The sign is unique due to its design and location. A paved pullout allows visitors to photograph the sign and scenic location called Smokey Bear Flat. It can be seen both north and southbound on US Hwy. 395, 3 miles north of Hwy. 203. Thousands of visitors pass by the the sign daily which reminds us that "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires".

At this location, DJ's Snowmobile Adventures, Inc. provides snowmobile rentals and tours from the open expanse (snowmobile park) to 90 square miles of scenic terrain and designations.

Smokey was an icon in helping bring about awareness of how devastating wildfires can be to wildlife. I am happy he is here near Mammoth Lakes to remind visitors and locals alike to be careful when out in our beautiful Sierras!!
