Built into the hillside facing beautiful Shirley Canyon and the world famous peaks of Squaw Valley USA, our Ropes Course offers unparalleled team building opportunities. The course can be a great tool for energizing groups as well as constructing and improving bonds between participants. Comprising of almost 20 different high elements, the Squaw Valley Adventure Center’s Ropes Course is one of the largest ropes courses in California, and is unique for being able to offer team events “up high”- incorporating the high elements.
The Ropes Course provides an opportunity for participants, whether a group or a family to push past their own comfort zones and to enter a region often referred to as the growth zone. When conducted in a supportive environment, self-awareness, personal learning, and feelings of accomplishment are typical results. Upon reflection and processing, this learning can result in positive change when applied to other areas of a participant’s life.
We teach and permit participants to handle the belay, or safety system for each other and as a result cultivate trust and responsibility, which are integral components of team/relationship building.
The unique location of our Ropes Course, at the base of world famous Squaw Valley USA, also adds to the benefit and enjoyment. Looking out onto world renowned ski runs such as KT22 and the Tram Face, our participants enjoy and learn to respect their unique surroundings. Our facilities enhance the visitor's experience to Squaw Valley by providing unique views and vistas of unsurpassed mountains and glaciated valleys, by allowing each person to reach beyond their normal comfort zones, and by creating a natural atmosphere that is difficult to find anywhere else in the world. Whether the participant is climbing 100 foot tall pine trees, taking a leap of faith from on top of a tall perch, or walking across a rope bridge among the tips of those trees, each participant gets to experience what makes the Sierra Nevada and Squaw Valley so incredible-unsurpassed views, awesome terrain, clean mountain air, and a fresh perspective on what makes life in the mountains special.
During the summer months the Ropes Course is open daily for use by adventurous individuals, families, and small groups interested in climbing a variety of high elements.
