The Yuba River Inn is a piece of Gold Rush history. The property was part of the Devine family farm in the 1800s which supplied miners and townspeople with locally grown food. The property was purchased by the Tschopp family and was established as an inn with dining room/restaurant, cabin rentals, and Sierra City's only swimming pool.
The Inn opened its doors for business in 1937. People traveled up Hwy 49 in buses for day trips and enjoyed lunches around a new pool and main building. Fire destroyed the original inn building in the mid-1960s. Guests enjoy enchanted evenings on the Idle Hours deck listening to the rush of the North Fork of the Yuba River and taking in the spectacular views of the river area.
